The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich

Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from Bayern Munich.

A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side

The forward, with six months remaining on her contract, is known as a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival will be seen as a major signing for the WSL team.

Her exit from Bayern has been anticipated since she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the German club’s fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

Reports in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading forwards. According to reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.

Consistent Goal Threat to Boost United's Forward Line

The experienced striker's signing should represent a significant boost to United’s forward line. Schüller has been remarkably reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.

  • For seven consecutive seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
  • She claimed the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Building Momentum at Carrington

The acquisition of Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club seem to be gathering momentum.

Recent performances feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

In the transfer market, the mid-season window has seen additional activity:

  1. The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
  2. The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.

Regarding Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure stated: “Miyazawa is now a critical part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”

The new defender, having joined from a side from the American league, added: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
