The President Calls Families of Attacked Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.
He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Gatherings across the state have been held in their memory.
White House Offer
The president explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”
Public Support
Mourners came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.
Both they had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support public safety in the capital.
Honoring Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to assist people.”
Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments
Officials have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The event prompted the government to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.
Condition of the Airman
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” he told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
