Information Available Regarding the Victims of the Bondi Beach Shooting
At least 16 people lost their lives and in excess of 40 sustained injuries when assailants fired on a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, an attack local police have labeled a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, officials have announced the death toll stands at 16, including one of the alleged gunmen. Furthermore, 42 injured people were transported to the hospital.
The deceased are still awaiting publicly named, but authorities state their ages are from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first to be publicly identified.
Reportedly a father-of-five, he served as the assistant rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and friends described him as ālively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help peopleā.
āHow can a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?ā a relative said.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their newest son just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, according to his wife.
She told the moments before the shooting, saying they had been standing together when the shooting erupted. āHe shielded me because he wished to be near me,ā she said.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having faced immense hardship in their childhood. They had later immigrated to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French authorities have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
In a statement, a senior official said that France shared the grief of his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
āThis cowardly attack is a fresh and tragic example of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must combat,ā the statement continued.
One Child
A child who was taken to the Sydney Childrenās Hospital succumbed to her injuries, according to police reports.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was also killed in the incident, as per reports referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people taken to hospital, many are still under care, with several in a critical state. The injured include two police officers who responded to the attack.
One of the injured is a bystander who rushed to the scene to confront one of the attackers. Called a hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. It has been reported he was hurt and is receiving treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he recounted the incident as an āhorrific scene,ā but also praised the actions of those who rushed to help. He said he felt it was a āmiracleā he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the shooting. He described he heard ādozens and dozensā of gunshots.
āI thought it was something less lethal, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,ā he said. āI sustained a gunshot wound. I received first aid. Iām ok.ā
